Linsanity

Linsanity has swept the nation, and the proverbial heat is off the Miami Heat.  This guy’s story is great, and he has drawn comparisons to Tim Tebow.  Right when I thought the media couldn’t bring Tebow into conversation since the NFL season is over, they find a way.  However, I hate the comparison.  Tim Tebow is an awful quarterback, and his skill set does not translate into long term NFL success.  The stories are not similar, and the only real similarity between the two that I can find is their work ethic.  I’ve watched a documentary on Tebow, and his work ethic is unrivaled.  It’s been popularized through the media, as well.  Everyone knows he is the first person to practice and the last one to leave.  Jeremy Lin’s work ethic is very similar.  He has been in the Development League, and for most players, that is the graveyard of their career.  Instead, Lin used the league as a learning opportunity, and he improved every facet of his game.  His work ethic has translated into real skills that are obvious to anyone watching the game.  He is talented, and he has an NBA body.  The other day, ESPN ran a poll that asked what the more surprising story was: Tebow or Lin.  Of course, a nation struck with Linsanity chose Lin with huge numbers, but Tebow is easily a more surprising story.  All signs point to him not being able to play in the NFL.  Everyone, please realize that Jeremy Lin has everything needed to be an NBA player that is in the league for a while.
